Knicks Draft target Michael Porter, Jr. has cancelled his second Pro Day -- which was to take place on Friday -- due to a hip injury.
Knicks president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry had been set to travel to Chicago to meet with the Missouri freshman, a league source told SNY contributor Adam Zagoria last week.
While the injury may scare off some teams, an NBA executive told Zagoria that he doesn't think Porter will fall to the Knicks at No. 9.
"I think the injury will cause some teams in the Top 8 of the lottery to pass on him but not all of them to the point that he slips out of the Top 8," the executive said. "I do not think he slips to 9."
The 6-foot-10 Porter had been expected to meet in Chicago with all of the top teams in the draft lottery. He held his Pro Day last Friday in Chicago, and Knicks scouts Walker Russell and Fred Cofield attended, per a league source.
Porter Jr. missed most of his only season at Missouri after having microdiscectomy surgery of the L3-L4 spinal discs in November, but he could turn out to be one of the best pros in this Draft.
"I'm the best player in this draft," he told reporters at the Combine.
