Patrick Ewing knows all about fortuitous lottery outcomes.
The Knicks won the 1985 lottery and selected the former Georgetown star -- and current Hoyas coach -- with the top pick. While tall tales detailing frozen envelopes that guaranteed the Knicks with the top pick that year exist, Ewing laughed off such a premise Tuesday during his appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.
Then Patrick asked -- mostly in jest -- if he and the Knicks worked up a plan to secure the top pick this time around.
"I can't tell you," he said. "I tell you, I gotta kill you, and I love you, Dan."
Ewing will be in Chicago representing the Knicks at the lottery. New York has a 14 percent chance at winning the No. 1 selection, with hopes that past lottery success can repeat itself more than 30 years after Ewing began his Knicks career.

"I'm hoping I can repeat that magical day or magical night and the Knicks are able to come away with the No. 1 pick," Ewing said.
