The Knicks are in need of help on the wing. And while GM Scott Perry understands that, the plan is to select the best player available when the team picks ninth at the NBA Draft on June 21.
"We're still in that talent acquisition phase," Perry said Thursday afternoon on ESPN. "Obviously it's no secret that we can use some more help at the wing position."
"So when we get down to the ninth pick, at the end of the day we're gonna pick the very best player," Perry continued. "If it happens to be a wing, so be it. If not -- if there's a clear delineation at another position in terms of talent -- then we'll probably opt to go that direction and get the very best talent we can get."
SG Luka Doncic and SF Michael Porter Jr. are expected to be long gone when the Knicks make their pick, with New York potentially picking from a group including PF Wendell Carter Jr., SF Mikal Bridges, and SF Miles Bridges.
