NEW YORK (AP) Kristaps Porzingis had 37 points and 11 rebounds, Michael Beasley made the biggest plays in overtime, and the New York Knicks beat the Los Angeles Lakers 113-109 on Tuesday night.
Beasley had 13 points, including the tiebreaking follow shot, and an assist in the extra period as the Knicks went back over .500 at 14-13. Thirteen of their victories have come at Madison Square Garden.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 24 points for the Lakers, who had won two in a row on their trip. Rookie Kyle Kuzma added 19 points off the bench.
Lonzo Ball had 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists, with a dazzling third-quarter stretch that had father LaVar celebrating wildly from his courtside seat next to Lithuania-bound sons LiAngelo and LaMelo. But Lonzo was quiet after that period beyond two free throws early in OT. >> Read more

This might have been the most entertaining game to watch so far this season. This was a very nice win for the Knicks. This game was back and forth throughout the night. Leads were exchanged every few minutes. There was a stretch in the third quarter where nobody would miss a shot. In the end, the Knicks got the job done down the stretch, and Kristaps Porzingis carried this team tonight with 37 points and 11 boards.
What a night from Michael Beasley and Frank Ntilikina. Beasley saw important minutes down the stretch in the fourth quarter and overtime for really the first time this season. 12 of his 13 points came in the fourth and OT. With Enes Kanter still a little banged up, they have been sitting him late in games. Beasley has taken full advantage. From Ntilikina, we saw a ton of confidence from him as he had a career-high 13 points. He made back-to-back jumpers in the fourth quarter, and made a three from about 30 feet away to beat the shot clock. We were also seeing the backcourt of Ntilikina and Ron Baker in the fourth at times, which Jeff Hornacek has used lately because of their strong defense.
This was an incredible game to watch from multiple levels. The game itself was awesome. The celebs were out in full force with Magic Johnson sitting next to Odell Beckham Jr. with Spike Lee down the line with LaVar Ball and the Ball brothers right there too. There were also a ton of Lakers fans there where there was a new "Kuuuz" chant at MSG. The Knicks will have three more games coming up against teams below .500 and need to continue getting these victories. It was great to see Porzingis have one of those ridiculous games again like he was doing early in the season. Maybe playing in Brooklyn Thursday can give them a chance to end their road woes and pick up a victory just a couple miles away from home.
The Nets will host the Knicks on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
