Kristaps Porzingis (sore right hip) sat out for Wednesday's practice and still has not committed to an exact return date, he told reporters.
"Forty percent yes, 60 percent no,'' Porzingis responded when asked if he would return Friday night, according to the New York Post. "[It] depends how I feel [Thursday] with running, shooting. We'll see. I'm lifting my leg up. It's getting better from [Tuesday]."
Porzingis left Sunday's preseason matchup with the Nets and missed all of Monday's. When speaking after the Knicks concluded practice Wednesday, he reiterated that he wants to play again before the Knicks begin the regular season.
"I hope to play the last game and be ready for the season," Porzingis said. "I'm like a lizard. I recover quickly."
As for when he does return to the court, Porzingis conceded that he has to work on his defensive game in order to be a better all-around player for the Knicks.
"I have to be big in the paint all the time,'' Porzingis said. "Not always going to block a shot. I'm going to bother the shots. Last season I was one of the best at lowering the percentage of another team at the rim.''
