Presidential candidate Andrew Yang -- a big Knicks fan who was very active on social media leading up to free agency -- is sounding off on the team again. This time, it's all negative.
"I think the New York Knicks need to fall back, on so many levels," Yang said during an appearance on The Beat with Ari Melber. "Oh my gosh, I've been a fan since I was a kid. And so the Summer League Knicks skipped shaking hands with their opponents after they had lost their third straight game."
That "poor sportsmanship led Yang to bash the Knicks' roster management, which included signing a half dozen or so lower tier free agents after missing out on their top targets.
"And I said 'no way.' You guys can't be displaying poor sportsmanship on top of losing the game, on top of the epic mismanagement of the team," Yang said. "It's like a team now composed of overpaid role players after they missed out on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and everyone else."

While Yang has a point that some of the players that the Knicks signed are strictly role players, others (such as Julius Randle) have a higher ceiling than that.
The Knicks also aren't a team that's "composed" of those recent free agent signings. Rather, they are a team that is building around the young core of Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, RJ Barrett, and Allonzo Trier, while keeping their financial flexibility (no one but Randle is on a contract longer than one guaranteed season) open for 2020-21 and beyond.
It will be interesting to see what Yang thinks about the Knicks once the season starts, but he could be out of the news by then, with the odds of him making it to the September Democratic debates looking low.
