Former Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale has "gained serious traction" among the Knicks in their head coaching search, per The Vertical's Shams Charania.
The Knicks are done with their 11 interviews for the head coach vacancy, and a report by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said the team is looking to get the position filled some time this week.
Fizdale is one of the top candidates to win the race to become the Knicks' next head coach. Though he only coached the Grizzlies for a year-and-a-half, Fizdale is one of the bright, young minds in the league. He was fired by Memphis this past season after just 19 games, as there were rumors that he and star C Marc Gasol did not get along.
Fizdale does have other suitors available including the Suns and Magic, who he will interview with soon. However, if the Knicks believe Fizdale is their guy, he may not even need to sit down for an interview anywhere else.
Also on the list of candidates are former Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer, former Knicks coach Mike Woodson, Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown, and former Warriors head coach Mark Jackson to name a few.
