RJ Barrett's X-rays came back negative on his sprained ankle and he will be reevaluated next week, the Knicks announced Friday afternoon.
Barrett injured his ankle late in the third quarter of Thursday's loss to the Suns, after taking a bad step off his right foot while driving to the basket.
The rookie exited the game after the next possession and left Madison Square Garden with the help of crutches.
"What I heard was I kind of twisted my left (ankle) a little bit on one step, so then on the right step I tried to fix it," Barrett said after the game. "...I tried to run down on the other end but then I tried to play defense, and it just hurt too much on both sides so I just decided to call it."
Barrett will miss just his second game of the season on Saturday night -- the guard is averaging 14.1 points on 39.3 percent shooting, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals this year.
