‘‘A win is a win. But right now we’re not moving in the right direction,’’ Rose said. ‘‘If we’re trying to do something special, playing like this at home, we can’t do that.’’
And though the Bulls lead the NBA in rebound differential, they were outrebounded for the third time in five games Tuesday night.
‘‘I’m concerned any time we’re outrebounded,’’ Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. ‘‘But everybody in the league is going through the same thing. So it’s our ability to concentrate and focus, to be ready. We have to get to a point where we can play 48 minutes.’’
I will say this, last night's performance or not, I am not a complete believer in a point guard leading a team to a championship if they lead the team, by a lot, in field goal attempts. Rose managed to balance the field goal attempts last night and if he can do so, the Bulls will be a really tough out.
There will be a ton of pressure on Rose to score and make shots in close games, but if he is forced to have someone else make one when it counts, he better get players involved early in games then take over down the stretch like he did last night versus Boston.
The Celtics, to me, have championship acumen, but I think they are on the other side of the mountain. This tournament, for the first time in a few years, seems to be anyone's ball game, at least in the East.
