There is also word that Jackson is preparing to have surgery.
I've been asked countless times why would Jackson come to New York and put his legacy on the line and deal with owner Jim Dolan. I can't say that that he will because I don't know but there is league-wide chatter that Jackson has his sites on finishing his career in New York where he started as a player.
James Dolan has certainly struggled choosing the right mix with the Knicks and had caught a lot of flack for leaving Glen Sather be the entire decade while running the Rangers. Dolan respects Sather's past championship acumen, which is exactly what Jackson would bring the the table.
Ken Berger of CBS had this important note in January as it related to the situation:
"The feeling is, all Dolan would have to do is ask, and Phil would say yes," a person connected to the former Lakers coach told me this week.My intel is telling me the same thing, especially if the Nets land Dwight Howard and steal the spotlight, something Dolan knows can't happen when the team moves to Brooklyn.
