The Knicks have a pre-draft meeting scheduled with Murray State's Ja Morant, SNY sources confirm.
New York has the No. 3 pick in the draft and has already worked out Duke's RJ Barrett and Texas Tech's Jarrett Culver in individual workouts.
Morant is recovering from surgery, so he won't be working out for the club, but he will meet with members of the organization in New York, as ESPN first reported. The meeting is expected to take place on Friday, not on Thursday as was reported.
Morant is expected to be selected by the Memphis Grizzlies, who have the No. 2 pick in the draft. That would leave Barrett or Culver available at No. 3 for New York. It would surprise many media who focus on the draft if Barrett was drafted outside of the top three.
Speaking of the Grizzlies, Morant has already met with them as well as the Pelicans.
Vick impresses in Pelicans workout
LaGerald Vick, a guard from Kansas who worked out for the Knicks, also had a strong shooting performance in a recent workout for the Pelicans. The Knicks have the No. 55 pick in the draft and have worked out several players who could fall into that real estate.
The club has partnered with some summer hoops tournaments and parks in New York City to provide clinics and giveaways. The tournaments the team sponsored with are: Dyckman, West 4th Street, Watson, and Hoops in the Sun.
