Two days before St. Raymond's was set to play New York Catholic league rival Bishop Loughlin on January 13th, Isaiah Washington called up Carmelo Anthony and let him know about the game.
Sure enough, when game day arrived, Anthony turned up at the St. Raymond's gym along with fellow Knicks Brandon Jennings and Kyle O'Quinn and rising Def Jam recording artist Dave East.
"I had spoke to Melo and another good friend that knows Melo and they said they was going to come through," the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Washington told SNY.tv by phone.
The trio of Knicks then watched as the Minnesota-bound Washington went off for a triple-double of 29 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds as St. Raymond's prevailed, 85-84, in a game that was marred by a St. Raymond's guard Dallas Watson going down with a broken wrist. The Knicks remained in the building throughout the 32-minute injury delay mainly to watch Washington.
