I don't think there is a question that the team would like to add a big to the rotation considering Shawne Williams, who was fantastic defensively last night, could use less minutes guarding bigger players. Bill Walker gave the team decent minutes, but his 15 should be saved for a true rebounder and post defender. Walker or Corey Brewer could be used to spell Landry Fields.
With their recent solid play, having won 7 of their last 10, the Pacers are knocking on the 8th seed door and you'd expect they'd keep Jeff Foster around, a perfect piece to add to this roster. It's amazing how 2 weeks can make teams go from sellers to either holders or buyers. But you really never know.
The Knicks have a chance to make a move in the standings if they can make another subtle move here. Maybe someday the Hawks will explain to me what they were thinking as an organization yesterday. Anyway, the Hawks are just 4 games ahead of the Knicks in the standings and could find themselves in a very winnable 4/5 matchup with the Magic who are reeling playing just .500 basketball with the league's best center over their past 14 games. Without question, the Knicks will need front line help to defend D-12 if they want to get out of round 1.
Moves on days like today, little ones, for productive veteran minute eaters, can win (or lose) playoff series in the spring.
Walsh knows this and if the right deal is there he will make it.
