Anyway, this really caught my eye. The article talks about the idea of the Mavericks trading for New Orleans PG Chris Paul. Paul has a contract extension that kicks in this year. The Hornets also have some bad contracts that they would love to unload. Why would Paul be traded? Well, apparently the poor economy is hitting the Hornets pretty hard. Do not quote me on this, but I think that I remember reading that the Hornets took out a loan from the NBA recently. With the Knicks armed and loaded with big expiring deals after next season, the Knicks could be an attractive option for the Hornets to give a call.
I highly doubt that the Hornets would ever entertain the idea of trading Paul. That would be the equivalent of the Cavs trading LeBron. But if they are that desperate, I hope Donnie places a call. The Hornets can have anything (ANYTHING) they want off of our roster. They can have Gallo. They can have Wilson. They can have anyone they want. Chris Paul is legitimately that good.
We can send them Al Harrington, Wilson Chandler, and a signed Nate Robinson for Paul, Peja, and Mo Pete (probably their two worst contracts).
I would be very tempted to trade Wilson and Gallo for Paul. Trading for Paul and garbage contracts might kill the 2010 free agency plan though.
