Yes we are aware that Anthony Randolph is available and I can tell you this, Donnie Walsh is a fan. How do I know? Let's just say that it's not a secret around Knicks camp.
Walsh, from what I've gathered, had Randolph high on his draft board last year and thought about him at 6 along with Gallinari and Gordon, but he felt that Gallo was the safe pick. Gordon was someone who would have sat behind Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, whom Coach D'Antoni was very excited about at the time and Chris Duhon whom the team signed two weeks later.
Randolph could be available and isn't the same player as his LSU counterpart Ty Thomas- anyone who watched him in the summer league this year knows that his game is much more face up and he can equally guard the rim as a help defender- a huge need for this team as we all witnessed last night.
But do the Knicks have the pieces to make a deal? I don't know that. It's doubtful that Golden State would want Nate Robinson, but after Christmas a Wilson Chandler/ Marcus Landry package would work.
Again, that is not to say that a deal is in the works, or if Golden State is interested in dealing again with the Knicks. It's that the organization is very familiar with Randolph's talents.
