Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek was fully behind rookie PG Frank Ntilikina sticking up for himself against LeBron James of the Cavaliers on Monday at Madison Square Garden.

"I thought it was great,'' Hornacek said on MSG's "The Jeff Hornacek Experience", according to Marc Berman of the NY Post. "When we played back in the day, there was a lot of that. So you don't see as much now in today's game."

Hornacek also praised Enes Kanter's reaction on the court to the altercation between Ntilikina and James, and Kanter's overall leadership thus far...

When it became public knowledge that Carmelo Anthony had a no-trade clause in his Knicks' contract, it became conventional wisdom that Anthony would veto any potential trade besides to Cleveland or Houston, if at all.

It was surprising, then, to see Anthony, who has long been on the record with his love for New York City and his desires after basketball, accept a trade to a smaller city like Oklahoma City.

So how's Carmelo Anthony doing in OKC? Pretty good, according to the man himself...

At anytime between now and September 1 of next year, the Knicks could use the stretch provision and waive Joakim Noah, creating extra cap space the next two years, according to Marc Berman of NY Post.

Noah has been eligible to return from his suspension for two games but has remained inactive amid the Knicks' logjam in the frontcourt that has kept Wily Hernangomez primarily on the bench behind Enes Kanter and Kyle O'Quinn. After this season, Noah has two years and $37.5 million years left on the contract Phil Jackson signed him to just two summers ago.

According to Berman, the Knicks are in no rush to make that decision. There are no added cap incentives in cutting Noah now rather than after the season. If the Knicks were to use the stretch provision on Noah, the team would free up $11 million in cap space this summer and $12 million next summer. He'd remain on the cap for the Knicks until 2022 though, at $7.5 million per year.

Last season, Noah averaged just five points and 8.8 rebounds per game in a season where he was limited to 46 games due to injuries.

"Knicks management is making a huge effort" to get in the good graces of Kristaps Porzingis' brother, Janis, reports Marc Berman of the NY Post.

According to Berman, that effort included team president Steve Mills, GM Scott Perry, and head coach Jeff Hornacek all meeting with Janis at separate times earlier this week.

Janis Porzingis said earlier this month that money won't be the main factor regarding whether Kristaps remains with the Knicks long-term.

Knicks rookie PG Frank Ntilikina has touted defensive abilities, but his offense is starting to show as well.

Head coach Jeff Hornacek has come to learn that if he needs some stout defending, he is going to look at his 19-year-old point guard. That's exactly what he did Wednesday night as Ntilikina was s disruptor for all 20 minutes he saw the hardwood.

"We have great confidence in him defensively. It's great that a young guy comes into the league with more defensive principles than the offensive principles," Hornacek told The Post's Fred Kerber.

NEW YORK (AP) Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 26 points, including a key 3-pointer with 32.9 seconds left, to help the New York Knicks rally in the second half and beat the Utah Jazz 106-101 on Wednesday night.

New York trailed by 10 late in the third quarter but got its third comeback victory in eight days. Hardaway's 3 made it 102-98, and he added four free throws after that.

Kristaps Porzingis had 22 points and Courtney Lee added 19 as the Knicks rebounded after blowing a 15-point fourth quarter lead in a loss to the Cavaliers on Monday night. Enes Kanter added 13 points.

NEW YORK -- It is never a good time to lose one of the league's most promising young big men, but the Utah Jazz picked an exceedingly bad time to lose Rudy Gobert for at least a month.

First the Jazz had to contend with Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns - and failed that challenge in a 109-98 loss to Minnesota on Monday night.

Now they'll have to handle Kristaps Porzingis on Wednesday night when they travel to Madison Square Garden for a showdown with Porzingis and the New York Knicks.

The Knicks have a growing sense of confidence in coach Jeff Hornacek's offense this season, PF Kristaps Porzingis told ESPN Radio's "The Michael Kay Show" on Tuesday.

With Phil Jackson and his insistence on running the triangle offense no longer part of the organization, the 22-year-old believes that Hornacek's ability to implement his own style is proving beneficial to the Knicks' early-season success.

"This year you can feel that Jeff has more, he's running his own stuff without anybody coming in and telling him what to do or how to do so I think from the top down you can feel that there's more confidence in what we're doing," Porzingis said. "It's a better feeling this way.

Jake Brown | Twitter | It has not taken very long for Enes Kanter to become one of the new fan favorites here in New York. At 7-6, I'd say it took 13 games for that to be true, but really it may have just taken one game and a couple of quotes Monday night.

Kanter stood up for his rookie teammate Frank Ntilikina not just in the headlines, but on the court. He showed what a tremendous teammate he is, and what an important voice he is in the locker room. Kanter wasn't going to let LeBron James say or do things to their rookie point guard and let the future Hall of Famer run all over them. Sure, the Knicks blew a 23-point lead and lost the game Monday to the Cavaliers, but Kanter getting in LeBron's face when he was bumping Ntilikina was a big statement.

Then what he said after the game about LeBron was important to send a message and defend his team. Kanter clearly wants to win and he knows what being part of a team is, and being a leader. So far, he looks like the veteran leader on this squad...

After a rough start to the season, Knicks SG Tim Hardaway, Jr. has been living up to his lucrative contract he signed this offseason.

Hardaway signed a four-year, $71 million deal with the Knicks, and many were skeptical of the signing. Those skeptics weren't put to shame in the beginning of the season as Hardaway couldn't find his shooting stroke early on. However, after settling in, he has picked up his play drastically and looks to be living up to the deal -- for now.

The 25-year-old has averaged 20.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and has shot 45.5 percent from the field in the past nine games. He recorded a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds against the Cavaliers on Monday despite the team's loss.

Knicks C Joakim Noah has learned a lot from his 20-game PED suspension as he awaits his comeback.

Noah will return to the team Monday when the Knicks take on the Cavaliers. He has been able to practice with the team, but he has not been able to step on the court at gametime. It has killed him to watch on the bench to start the season, which has taught the veteran center a lesson.

"I'm not gonna lie, it was very humbling, very tough, to not be able to be with the guys, to have to stay back and watch the games alone, even on the bus. That's been tough," Noah told the Daily News. "It's been a long couple weeks. I'm happy we're playing well. And I'm just happy to be back with the team."

Kristaps Porzingis practiced in full on Friday after missing Wednesday's game against the Magic in Orlando due to a bruised left elbow and sprained right ankle.

He is expected to play on Saturday against the Kings, head coach Jeff Hornacek told reporters.

It's the elbow that is more of a concern and may necessitate offseason surgery, the New York Post's Marc Berman recently reported.

Porzingis has battled bursitis in his elbow for years, which he aggravated during Tuesday night's win against Charlotte.

"I've played my whole career, first time in my 11 years this has actually happened," Sessions told the NY Post. "I've been around a while, been around different scenarios. It's still early. It's a long season. In the NBA, a lot of things can happen.''

With Kristaps Porzingis on the bench with a bad elbow and ankle Wednesday night, the Knicks couldn't muster a win on the road against the Magic.

It would have had to be another comeback win for the Knicks, but they didn't have their go-to player on the floor to lead the way. Tim Hardaway Jr. put a team-high 26 points on the board. However, it was to no avail as the Magic finished the Knicks off in the fourth quarter, 112-99, to hand them their fifth loss of the season.

Hardaway had to admit after the game that it was hard without Porzingis on the floor.

Knicks GM Scott Perry has a big decision to make by Monday as C Joakim Noah returns from his 20-game suspension, and a roster spot must be made for him.

There are two options that Perry can administer: 1) Trading a player to make room for Noah, or 2) waiving a player. It was reported that the Knicks were looking to shop Mindaugas Kuzminskas, who finally got his first game action last night. The Lakers, Cavaliers, and Hawks all had interest in Kuzminskas in the 2016 offseason.

If Perry can't strike a deal, he will be forced to waive a player to make room for Noah, who is under a four-year, $72 million contract. Ramon Sessions appears to be the top candidate to waive, and Perry made it clear he will address the roster one way or the other.

The Knicks will be going for their fifth win in six games but they'll have to do so without Kristaps Porzingis, who is unavailable with elbow and ankle pain.

Porzingis is averaging 30.2 points, second to Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo in the early scoring race, and he leads the league with seven 30-point games.

Porzingis' surge is among the reasons why New York (6-4) owns the same record as Orlando, though it was a different path for the Knicks. New York dropped their first three games, but since a 110-89 loss at Boston on Oct. 24, they are 6-1.

New York is also proving to be tough in the fourth quarter. The Knicks came back from 19 down to beat Indiana by seven on Sunday and rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat Charlotte.

That it feels like old times seems to be the reaction amongst Knicks fans going to games at Madison Sqaure Garden so far this season. Tuesday night, the buzz in the building truly felt like it.

There were a couple of plays prior to the fourth quarter that were special. Most notably, the series where Kristaps Porzingis had three straight blocks after a Kyle O'Quinn block was nuts. You never see a block after block after block after block ever. Unfortunately for the Knicks, Frank Ntilikina was called for a foul on the final one. When they played the replay on the scoreboard, you could hear the crowd essentially counting after each block...

19-year-old rookie PG Frank Ntilikina is not yet starting for the Knicks, but he's coming through while being trusted with key minutes down the stretch. He hit a huge three-pointer late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win against the Pacers, finishing with 10 points, seven assists, and three steals while playing at-times lockdown defense.

"It was just part of developing my game in Europe," Ntilikina told the NY Post on Tuesday about his defense. "Me, obviously I know when you're a rookie, you're not as strong as the other players who got a lot of experience in the game. So you just have to be more willing to defend more, willing to stop the player. And, yeah, just do more of the work."

Jake Brown | Twitter | It's been very important for Ntilikina to get minutes in the fourth quarter and at the end of games. That's the best way to make him a better player, and to become more confident on both ends of the floor. His defense against some pretty good point guards has also made it easier for Hornacek to stick with him. Knocking down shots will come with time, but for now, his defense is much more important than his scoring...

In another comeback victory for the Knicks, it was star F Kristaps Porzingis who iced the team's third straight win on Tuesday night.

The Knicks capped off a 19-point comeback on Sunday night against the Pacers, and last night's contest against the Hornets was eerily similar. Down 15 at one point, they relied on Porzingis -- the recently named Eastern Conference Player of the Week -- to bring them home.

The 21-year-old only had two points in the second half before a pair of free throw tied the ball game with 2:32 left on the clock. Then, Porzingis drained a three with less than a minute left to give the Knicks' a 114-111 lead.

Knicks SF Lance Thomas may not have jumped out off the score sheet on Sunday, but it was his defense that helped the team in their comeback win over the Pacers.

The real reason the Knicks came back was because of their star F Kristaps Porzingis, who netted a career-high 40 points with 24 coming with 13:26 left in the game. Just before Porzingis went off, Thomas spoke to him saying the 22-year-old needed to carry the Knicks out of the deep hole they dug.

His speech clearly worked.
