PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Trail Blazers have been on a sweet ride of late, and they want very much for it to continue.

The Trail Blazers kept it rolling with a 108-103 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center Monday night, extending their season-long win streak to seven games.

Damian Lillard scored 19 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter as the Blazers rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final 5:26 to end the Lakers' five-game win streak.

Portland (38-26) now returns home to face the flailing New York Knicks (24-40), who have lost in 12 of their last 13 outings, at Moda Center. >> Read more

Amid reports indicating that Courtney Lee is seeking to be traded to a contender, the 32-year-old told ESPN that he does not want to be traded and is happy to remain with the team.

The New York Post reported, citing sources, that Lee is preferring to go to a playoff team or contender if the Knicks opts to trade him.

The Knicks have sought suitors for the 32-year-old in an effort to trade him and free up cap space for the 2019 season, per the New York Post. The 76ers have interest in Lee, who was close to being traded to Philadelphia in 2016 before he nixed the deal.

The Knicks and new head coach David Fizdale want to see more from PG Frank Ntilikina this upcoming season. He had a so-so year in his rookie campaign, showing flashes of what he can give on the offensive end while providing the stellar defense he was known to possess.

To up his game entirely, Fizdale wants the young guard to be more aggressive and physical. In turn, Ntilikina hit the weights.

During the Knicks' town hall event on Monday, GM Scott Perry said that Ntilikina added 10-15 pounds of muscle during his summer workouts, per ESPN's Ian Begley

Knicks president Steve Mills is focused on rebuilding the franchise, and that means being cautious with All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis and their draft picks from this year and the future.

At a team town hall, Mills said he wants to play the long game in having the Knicks return to being a contender.

"We're not going to take shortcuts," Mills said, according to The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov. "We're not going to trade our draft picks. Really, we believe New Yorkers will live with a plan and buy into a plan as long as we articulate it. ... We're not going to trade away assets for a guy we can get on our own later."

It was a smack in the face for Knicks team president Steve Mills.

New York had a 20-point loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles last season, and the Lakers weren't one of the best teams out West. On the bus ride to the airport, Mills knew what his team needed to do for that not to happen again.

"We just kept looking at each other and we said the Lakers weren't particularly good at that point, but the athleticism differential when you watched our team play their team is alarming," Mills told Newsday's Steve Popper. "If we want to compete and build something we have to get more athletic. It was so glaring."

As the new NBA season creeps closer and closer by the day, Sports Illustrated began to release their Top 100 players for the 2018-19 season. And one New York Knicks player has fallen on the list.

Kristaps Porzingis came in at No. 52 on the list after a 2017 season that had some big ups, and ultimately, a season-ending down.

"If healthy, Porizingis (22.7 PPG, 6.6 RPG) would have had a strong case as a top-20 player," SI wrote. "By record and point differential, the 2017-18 Knicks were a playoff bubble team with the Latvian big man on the court. After he suffered a season-ending ACL tear in early February, though, New York was pitiful, ranking No. 28 in winning percentage and No. 26 in net rating. Porzingis was on track to solidifying his reputation as a franchise player, and his unfortunate injury was the difference for the Knicks between being competitive and noncompetitive, relevant and irrelevant, watchable and unwatchable."

Knicks C Enes Kanter has trash-talked Kevin Durant, but he also has been his teammate -- and now he hopes they can team up again in New York next year.

Durant signed a two-year deal with Golden State, but he is able to opt out after the first year. Kanter said he will "try to recruit" Durant once that time comes.

"I've been hard on him the last two years," Kanter said on Sirius XM Radio. "As soon as I learned he's becoming a free agent, he's my best friend. I can't say enough of the guy. He's the best scorer to ever play the game. Who wouldn't want KD to wear a New York uniform?"

Knicks legend and broadcaster Walt Clyde Frazier was brutally honest when discussing the team's outlook this season.

Frazier believes New York is doomed without Kristaps Porzingis, who has been rehabbing his torn ACL overseas and the Knicks do not have a timetable for his return.

"The reality is without KP, man, we're going nowhere," Frazier told Sirius XM this week. "Without Porzingis, he's our future. The worst thing that could have happened to the Knicks did happen. This guy blew his knee out mid season. Supposedly he's coming back in January, but who knows. If the Knicks don't get him back to his former grandeur things are looking pretty bleak for them."

In order to better prepare for his second season with the Knicks and his first under new head coach David Fizdale, point guard Frank Ntilikina told the French outlet l'Equipe he won't play for Team France in the FIBA World Cup qualifying.

"At the dawn of my second NBA season with the New York Knicks," Ntilikina said in a statement in French, "the timing appears very complex with a start of regrouping the team planned in early September and a new cycle to come with a new coaching staff. It is with great regret that I will not be able to finally join the group for this campaign."

The 20-year-old Ntilikina, who averaged 5.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 78 games as a rookie with New York last season, studied film with Fizdale earlier this summer and said he learned a lot from Fizdale, the former Grizzlies coach who replaced Jeff Hornacek.

ESPN came out with its predictions for where each NBA team will finish in their respective conference. And let's just say they don't agree with Metta World Peace

Will Melo accept a bench role? 00:00:47

Former Knick Carmelo Anthony officially signed with the Rockets on Monday. And though he may be a 10-time All-Star, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said to expect Melo to come off the bench for his new squad.

But that wasn't the biggest Knicks news around. On Sunday, Knicks first-rounder Kevin Knox commented on Vegas setting his team's win total at over/under 29 for the season. He wasn't too happy with the number.

Everyone has their own opinion. But the whole team, I'm pretty confident we're really good this year, that we have a chance to make the playoffs."

The Rockets always seemed like the destination, and it is expected to be official after the completion of Anthony's physical today. Wojnarowski is also reporting that Houston intends to bring Melo off the bench. It will likely be PJ Tucker or Gerald Green who gets the start at small forward.

Knicks head coach David Fizdale wakes up every morning with the same goal in mind.

"I want to take the Knicks to the championship," Fizdale told Latvian news outlet Sportacentrs.com. "This is my main and greatest goal -- to win the title for New York. Every morning is with this thought. Visiting Latvia and building of relationships with players so that they are more than simple coach-player relations, I believe that establishing such a link is a way to overcome the difficulties in the playoffs."

That is one lofty goal Fizdale set for himself given the Knicks haven't been to the Finals since their 1973 win. But he sees potential in his young crew to take him to the promise land.

The long-awaited visit between Knicks head coach David Fizdale and star forward Kristaps Porzingis has come to an end. And it was everything the Knicks hoped it would be.

Fizdale and his wife, Natasha, went overseas to visit Porzingis and his family in Latvia to get to know him on a more personal level, and develop what everyone hopes will be a healthy relationship for this season and more to come.

"It was important for Coach Fizdale to spend time with Kristaps and his family," an NBA source told The Post's Marc Berman. "It was an opportunity for both the coach and player to get to know each other on a more personal level and also talk basketball. It's part of establishing the type of culture and interaction necessary to building a strong foundation for this team in both the short and longer term."

Last summer, Scott Perry was ready to make the official move from Orlando to Sacramento to start his new journey as the VP of Basketball Operations with the Kings. But that's before Knicks president Steve Mills gave him a ring.

Perry had signed on with the Kings in April, but when Mills called about the GM role he currently holds in New York, he couldn't resist.

"So I started in Sacramento April 24," Perry told NorthJersey.com's Steve Popper. "And we go through the draft, we go through the free agency. I enjoyed my time there. We were actually in Las Vegas Summer League and I hear from Steve Mills, asking did I have an interest in the general manager's job. Obviously I did."

The Knicks' weak spot going into the 2018-19 season is clearly at power forward. With Kristaps Porzingis expected to miss at least half of the season with no timetable exactly set for his return, that leaves this team with a void. Signing Noah Vonleh makes perfect sense considering their lack of depth at the 4.

Either Mario Hezonja or Lance Thomas are expected to be the starting power forward on Day 1, which is not ideal. Both are 6-foot8 and will give the Knicks fits against bigger teams -- and most teams. Both are more small forwards than they are power forwards. Until Porzingis returns, expect Vonleh to have a pretty big role on this team. There's a good chance he plays around 20 minutes a night with a chance to earn a starting spot with a strong preseason.

New Knicks head coach David Fizdale said he wanted to have a strong sense of communication with center Kristaps Porzingis, and visiting Porzingis' home in native Latvia has been a big step.

Fizdale has spent the past few days in Latvia with his wife and gotten to know Porzingis face-to-face as the All-Star center looks to return from a torn ACL.

"That's what's been great about this trip," Fizdale told a Latvian TV station, according to ESPN's Ian Begley. "You can dive right into it and really get to feel the culture and see his basketball world. See how people treat him in the city."

Knicks second-rounder Mitchell Robinson turned some heads during his summer league appearances after showcasing his raw athletic abilities. And this is what New York hoped would happen for Robinson, who was considered a high-risk pick when they took him 36th overall back in June.

Why? Robinson was a bit of an unknown in this year's draft to say the least. Having not played at Western Kentucky as originally planned, Robinson worked out privately for the Draft instead. When he was selected, all fans knew about the 20-year-old was that he was 7-foot-1 with an athletic build, and would likely need some time to develop into an everyday player for the Knicks.

So, here are five other things you may not have known about the Knicks' new big man...

Enes Kanter and Jared Dudley engaged on Twitter on Wednesday, months after they were involved in a feud that originated during a game and spilled onto Twitter.

The issue stems from a January game when Devin Booker of the Suns shoved Kanter in the back, leading to Booker's ejection.

Kanter tweeted a photoshopped image after the game of Booker holding an "L" on the court.

Knicks C Kristaps Porzingis is working to make sure his recovery from an ACL tear he suffered last season goes smoothly -- both physically and mentally.

"The scar is going to be there, but it's more important that the scar is not up in here [in my head], so when you get back out on the court, you don't even think about your knee," Porzingis said duing a video with The Players' Tribune video. "I've seen the play 1,000 times, I've seen the video. I know exactly how it felt, and I'm not shying away from it."

Porzingis' injury occurred on February 6 when he was dunking on Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Knicks have yet to announce a timetable for his return. In the meantime, Porzingis said he has taken up yoga.

The star of the Knicks Summer League, small forward Kevin Knox has been opening eyes on and off the court.

Knox led the way in Las Vegas for the Knicks, scoring 21.3 points per game in four appearances. That was the fourth-highest scoring in all of summer league. And Knox was the only rookie to eclipse the 20 points per game mark.

Knox has also been getting praise from GM Scott Perry. On ESPN's Get Up, Perry said he had been "pinching himself' and trying to keep in mind that his first round draft pick was still only 18.

It's no secret the Knicks are still in rebuilding mode this season. But next season -- the offseason in particular -- they are looking to make a big leap from bottom of the barrel team in the East, to a high-powered contender.

How? Taking advantage of a stout free-agent market.

Knicks C Enes Kanter may be gearing up for this season, but he does have his mind on future free agency that could see a couple All-Stars as new teammates by the end of it. It was reported earlier that Celtics PG Kyrie Irving and Timberwolves G Jimmy Butler have talked about teaming up together in the NBA, and New York could be that destination in 2019 when they both hit free agency.

Knicks PG Trey Burke was the latest NBA player to make a surprise trip to Harlem's famous Dyckman Park for a pickup game.

NBA stars like Kevin Durant and Terry Rozier have made Dyckman appearances this summer, and Burke took his shot on the court Friday night. WIth the crowd cheering him on, the Knicks' point guard dropped 35 points for his team, showcasing his speed and craftiness to the lane.

"The Walking Bucket" is headed to the West Coast.

Knicks F Michael Beasley has agreed to a one-year deal with the Lakers for next season, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Beasley played a bench role with the Knicks last season until Kristaps Porzingis went down with a torn ACL. He, then, took over as one of the main scorers on the team.
