Now Commenting On:

Prior to being traded to Dallas, Tyson Chandler asked the Knicks to explore the possibility of dealing him (Berman, June 26).

Chandler "wanted out," due in part to the fact that he didn't consider himself to be part of the Knicks' long-term plans.

Since being hired,  Phil Jackson has spoken openly about the cap space the Knicks would have after the 2015 season, which would've likely meant the end of Chandler's tenure in New York if he had stayed through next season.

There were also some who felt that Chandler wouldn't fit in with Phil Jackson's triangle system.

Chandler, who signed a four-year, $56 million dollar deal with the Knicks in 2011,  is set to become a free agent after the 2014-15 season.
