Despite reports indicating the Knicks were expected to hire Nick Van Exel as an assistant on David Fizdale's staff, Van Exel tweeted that won't be the case.
Van Exel answered "Nah" on Twitter Monday afternoon when another user tagged him in a tweet regarding an update on the rest of Fizdale's coaching staff.

While Howard Eisley is reportedly being "strongly considered" for Fizdale's coaching staff, according to ESPN's Ian Begley, the Knicks have yet to officially name Fizdale's assistants. New York reportedly received permission to talk with Keith Smart of the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 46-year-old Van Exel was an assistant under Fizdale with the Grizzlies as well and has been with Memphis since June 2016. Van Exel previously coached a D-League team and was an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2013-14 season.
A 13-year veteran, Van Exel averaged 14.4 points and 6.6 assists per game in 880 career games with six teams.
