It appears the Grizzlies want Murray State's Ja Morant at No. 2 overall in the NBA Draft, and that suits RJ Barrett just fine.
Barrett prefers to slip past Memphis and end up with either the Knicks at No. 3 or the Lakers at No. 4, according to the New York Post.
On Wednesday, ESPN reported Memphis has begun informing other parties that the team is locked in on Morant with the second pick.
Barrett's father Rowan played college basketball from 1992-96 at St. John's, where Barrett's mother Kesha, a Brooklyn native, ran track.
The 18-year-old Canadian met with the Knicks in Chicago. With Zion Williamson, Morant and Barrett considered the clear top three in the draft class, it's very likely the Knicks would take Barrett unless they use the No. 3 pick in a trade package for Anthony Davis.
