On Monday night, the Nets defeated the Chicago Bulls by a final score of 110-91 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

The Skinny: After falling behind, the Nets went on an early 13-4 run to open a seven-point lead, with Deron Williams contributing five points during the run. But Chicago followed with a 7-0 run of its own to tie the game. Brook Lopez then led Brooklyn on a 7-0 run to again go up seven. Lopez poured in 11 points in the quarter, and the Nets led by five after one.

Nate Robinson?s energy led the Bulls on a 7-0 run to take the lead in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Back-and-forth lead changes ensued before a 9-2 Nets? run, led by hot mid-range shooting by Kris Humphries, put Brooklyn back up six. Chicago again closed the lead, but back-to-back three-pointers from Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace and a pair of free-throws from Lopez as part of an 8-0 run put the Nets up 10. Eight points from Humphries in the quarter helped the Nets lead by eight at the break.

On Wednesday night, the Nets defeated the Detroit Pistons by a final score of 103-99.

The Skinny: The Nets? regular starters started this one and looked rusty after having Monday night off. Brooklyn opened the game on a 4-of-14 shooting clip, which allowed the Pistons to take the early lead, but back-to-back dunks from Gerald Wallace put the Nets ahead. From there, the Nets went on a 16-2 run to close the opening frame leading by 11.

Andray Blatche scored eight points in less than four minutes to start the second quarter, allowing Brooklyn to maintain its double-digit lead. Will Bynum caught fire for Detroit, scoring 13 points in the quarter, to cut the deficit to seven. But Mirza Teletovic answered with back-to-back three-pointers, and the Nets led by 12 at the break.

Kris Humphries

After eight straight games of receiving no playing time, Brooklyn Nets power forward Kris Humphries has played in the last two road games. Humphries hadn?t seen any game action since playing two minutes back on March 2 against the Chicago Bulls.

He had not played in so long, he probably did a double-take when he heard Nets interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo call his name in the first half of the game in Los Angeles against the Clippers on Saturday night.

Michael Scotto, SNYNets.com

NEW YORK ? Kris Humphries? Nets tenure hit an all-time low on Wednesday, March 6th. After beating the lowly Charlotte Bobcats 99-78, Humphries failed to log a single minute of playing time. To put this into perspective, Tornike Shengelia, who has played sparingly and has been sent to the D-League multiple times, saw more action than Humphries. Shengelia has appeared in 14 games, averaging 3.9 minutes per game, for Brooklyn.

This is a mighty fall for Humphries less than one year after posting career highs in points per game (13.8), rebounds per game (10.9), and minutes per game (34.9).

On Wednesday night, the Nets defeated the Denver Nuggets by a final score of 119-108.

The Skinny: The Nets opened the game 4-of-6 from behind the three-point line. But the Nuggets were unstoppable on the glass in the opening quarter, with 16 of their 26 points coming in the paint. Evan Fournier hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to give Denver a three-point lead after one.

JaVale McGee and Jordan Hamilton paced Denver?s second unit to start the second quarter. But Brooklyn kept knocking down threes, with Keith Bogans and Tyshawn Taylor hitting from downtown. Kris Humphries had eight points in the opening minutes of the quarter, helping the Nets to a four point-lead at the midway point. A back-and-forth offensive pace ensued for the next six minutes, with the Nets leading by five at the break.

On Sunday night, the Nets were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs by a final score of 111-86.

The Skinny: The Nets had a 9-0 run early to establish the lead, with Joe Johnson starting the game with the hot hand. The Spurs held their own offensively to keep the score close, but Brooklyn went on a 10-0 run, sparked by two three-pointers by Keith Bogans, to take an 11-point lead. Brook Lopez led the Nets with 10 points in the first quarter. Brooklyn score 35 points in the opening frame ? the most since early January ? and led by 10 after one.

Kris Humphries looked good off the bench to help the Nets maintain the lead. But the Spurs were hot from the field and the free-throw line in the second quarter to cut the lead to three. Johnson scored five points in the final minute to put the Nets up six at the break. It was Brooklyn?s first halftime lead in the past six games.

In the Nets' 113-93 win over the Kings on Saturday night, there were stretches of the game in which P.J. Carlesimo played centers Brook Lopez and Andray Blatche on the floor at the same time.

Kris Humphries missed the game with injury, so Blatche was the first player off the bench to spell Reggie Evans.

NEW YORK ? After seeing the Brooklyn Nets drop their fifth home game in their last six attempts last night to the Utah Jazz, who came into the game with a 4-10 road record, I was curious as to how the game unfolded from the very last play to the beginning of the third quarter, when the Nets held a 13-point lead.

The "Boston Brawl" that took place in Wednesday night's Brooklyn Nets win against the Boston Celtics may have people all over the league talking, but Kris Humphries wants no part of any of the talk.? The media has been asking Hump for comment after comment and he has refused to acknowledge the incident as if it would give it credence if he did.

Humphries finally spoke about the incident yesterday for the first time so what did he have to say?

In case you missed it, during Wednesday night's battle up in Boston against the Celtics, with 29.5 seconds remaining in the first half and the Nets leading the Celtics by a score of 51-35, Kris Humphries fouled Kevin Garnett. Humphries made slight contact with Garnett's face and Garnett fell to the hardwood.

Rajon Rondo took exception and attacked Kris Humphries. The skirmish ensued which resulted in three ejections. Humphries and Rondo were both tossed for their role in the brawl and Gerald Wallace and Kevin Garnett were each given technical fouls.

Unfortunately for the Nets, Gerald Wallace picked up a technical foul earlier in the game for arguing a non-call and picked up his second technical during the skirmish. Both he and Humphries were ejected for the Nets. For the Celtics, Rondo was tossed and Garnett was called for a technical foul.

With all the wheeling and dealing the Brooklyn Nets did this offseason, it?s almost easy to forget one of the team?s most important transactions: re-signing power forward Kris Humphries to a two-year, $24 million deal.

The 235-pound rebounding machine has been a major part of the Nets? offense the past two seasons, and he?ll once again be counted on this season to produce.

NEW YORK, N.Y. ? Before the New Jersey Nets acquired Deron Williams in February, 2011, Brook Lopez was the only semi-reliable source of offense on the team.

It's no secret that we feel as though Kris Humphries' contributions goes largely overlooked. And although Tim Bontemps?our friend who covers the Nets for the New York Post?doesn't say that Humphries is a top-five power forward, we do think it's a fair question to ask.

Bontemps points out, among other things, that Humphries was one of five players to average a double-double last season. Who are the other four?

?Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Kevin Love, and Blake Griffin.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J ??After holding two-a-day practices for the past week, coach Avery Johnson is giving all of his players the day off on Tuesday. But before that,?he will be bringing back eight players for a second session on Monday evening.

The common thread between Tyshawn Taylor, MarShon Brooks, Josh Childress, Mirza Teletovic, Andray Blatche, Dennis Scott, Tornike Shengelia and James Mays is that they're either young guys or guys trying to make the team. And they're the eight guys that will be participating in Monday's second session.
