NEW YORK - After you've enjoyed an undefeated high school basketball season and averaged 14.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists at UCLA, you might think that you have it all figured out.

But now in his second season as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, former St. Anthony's and Paterson Catholic star Kyle Anderson knows better.

"Everything surprised me," the 6-foot-9 Fairview, N.J., native told SNY.tv before he went scoreless as the visiting Spurs beat the Knicks, 94-84, Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

WEST ORANGE, N.J. -- Kyle Anderson's workout with the Atlanta Hawks went well enough that they want him back for a second showing, his father told SNY.tv Saturday.

But count Knicks center Tyson Chandler among those who think Anderson has a place in the NBA.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Kyle Anderson Jr. "does not have plans" to enter the NBA Draft and will return to UCLA for his sophomore season, his father said Friday.

"Kyle does not have plans to declare on April 10 as an underclassmen and at this time is returning to UCLA," Kyle Anderson Sr. told SNY.tv in a text message sent to several outlets.

Kyle Anderson Sr. says that when Shabazz Muhammad makes his season debut Monday night against Georgetown at the Barclays Center, the nation will see the best college basketball player in the land.

He also questions how UCLA head coach Ben Howland is using his son, Kyle Anderson Jr., a natural point guard who has played on the wing in the Bruins' first three games.

Hall of Fame St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley said he hopes UCLA freshman Kyle Anderson is cleared by the NCAA and ?is able to compete this season.

The 6-foot-9 Anderson led St. Anthony to back-to-back New Jersey Tournament of Champions titles and a 65-0 record in his two seasons at the school. Among other things, the NCAA is looking into Anderson's relationship with NBA agent Thad Foucher, who has a preexisting relationship with Kyle Anderson Sr. from their AAU days.

"I read about it, kind of read as much as I could about it and hope that it all gets resolved quickly because we're going to try to see him over the Barclays Center in a few weeks [when UCLA plays in the Legends Classic Nov. 19-20]," Hurley told SNY.tv Thursday.

Kyle Anderson?Sr., the father of UCLA freshman guard Kyle Anderson, and NBA agent Thad Foucher have a preexisting relationship that dates back about a decade, sources told SNY.tv.

Anderson Sr. has known Foucher since the early 2000s through the AAU circuit, and Foucher met the son, known as "Lil Kyle," when he was a youngster through his father. Before becoming an agent with the Wasserman Media Group, Foucher served as?head coach of the New Orleans Jazz AAU Team from 1990-1998,?according to his Wasserman bio.

The?L.A. Times reported Saturday?that the NCAA's investigation into the 6-foot-9 Anderson and 6-5 wing?Shabazz Muhammad?is ongoing. In Anderson's case, the NCAA is looking into the connection between him and Foucher, who now reps Anthony Davis, among others, and works with Arn Tellem. Casey Wasserman is a UCLA graduate and well-known Bruins booster.

Former St. Anthony star Kyle Anderson must like playing in China.

The 6-foot-9 forward posted his second double-double of UCLA's three-game trip to the Far East, coming up with 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Bruins beat the Shanghai Sharks 92-63 Tuesday night. Sharks team owner Yao Ming met the Bruins after the game and posed for photos.

"I thought that I had a pretty good and complete all-around game," said Anderson, who had 11 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists in the team's first game of a 3-0 trip. "It just came along with the team game. It was about getting guys involved and defensive rebounds and doing things to allow the team to win."

UCLA-bound guard Kyle Anderson will undergo left thumb surgery on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for up to three months, his father told SNY.tv.

"Surgery is scheduled for Monday afternoon by Dr. Michelle Carlson, a highly respected hand specialist in New York," Kyle Anderson Sr. told SNY.tv Friday.

The recovery time is expected to be approximately three months, putting him out of competition through July.

The 6-foot-9 UCLA-bound point guard has torn ligaments in his thumb and Dr. Marc W. Urquhart of Bayonne, N.J., suggested surgery, which could keep Anderson out of action for three months.

"Dr. Urquhart says he has torn ligaments in his thumb and after reading the MRI and seeing the MRI he believes he needs surgery," Kyle Anderson Sr. told SNY.tv Wednesday. "We respect his opinion and judgment but are still going to have a second opinion."

UCLA-bound point guard Kyle Anderson will have an MRI on his left thumb today (Monday) at 3 p.m. and could be sidelined for up to three months with surgery, his father told SNY.tv.

"He could possibly need surgery," Kyle Anderson Sr. told SNY.tv. "I'm glad he was able to get through the all-star games."

And so perhaps it comes as no surprise that as his team enters the final game of its season -- the final game on the New Jersey high school basketball calendar -- he was drawing a comparison between his quartet of key players and the Yankees "Core Four."
