Former New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose is in serious talks to join the Cleveland Cavaliers on a one-year deal and also met with the Los Angeles Lakers for three hours, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst.

Rose, who underwent surgery in April to repair a torn meniscus, expressed his desire to remain a Knick to former team president Phil Jackson and his agent, B.J. Armstrong, in June.

However the Knicks are not among the three teams with whom Rose is considering signing, according to the New York Post's Fred Kerber. Rose reportedly met with the Milwaukee Bucks in early July.

The New York Knicks (13-10) are off to their best start since a 54-win campaign in 2012-13 -- the last season they made the playoffs. Coach Jeff Hornacek's team will look to continue that momentum on Sunday when they take on the Lakers in Los Angeles in the second game of a five-game road trip.

The Knicks said guard Derrick Rose is probable after missing the past two games with back spams.

The Knicks knocked off the Sacramento Kings 103-100 on Friday when forward Carmelo Anthony scored 33 points, including two key free throws with 14.8 seconds left. Anthony topped 30 points for the fifth time this season and became the 29th player to reach 23,000 points. With 23,022, he's 127 shy of Hall of Fame forward Elgin Baylor on the career list.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant believes the New York Knicks, who have the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference, should put their faith in team president Phil Jackson.

"People in New York just need to trust the fact that he knows more about basketball than any of them put together," Bryant told ESPN's Ian Begley after the Knicks beat the Lakers late Sunday night.

As the Knicks have lost 18 of their last 24 games and fired coach Derek Fisher last month, Jackson wants to stick with the same personnel that the Knicks already have, which include interim head coach Kurt Rambis, Carmelo Anthony and the triangle offense.

Tonight at the Barclays Center, the Nets will look to build off last night's victory and win two games in a row for the first time this season. The Los Angeles Lakers, who will be making their only trip to Brooklyn this season, stand in their way.

While the Lakers are one of the most illustrious teams in NBA history, they are in the midst of one of their leanest stretches in franchise history. They enter tonight's game in fourth place in the Pacific division, with a 7-8 record under coach Mike D'Antoni.
