"I was working on it with Dan a little bit in the bullpen sessions," Matz said. "I told Trav before the game, 'If we get ahead of a hitter, just kind of show them it.' And it turned out to be working pretty well for me today. So we mixed it in a few more times."

The New York Jets fear CB?Antonio Cromartie suffered a season-ending ACL/MCL injury after leaving Sunday's game against the Browns with a non-contact injury, according to ProFootballTalk (Sept. 14, 12:35 a.m.).

Cromartie will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.

New York Jets linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin has feelings in his extremities and passed all necessary tests at the hospital after leaving Sunday's game with a concussion, Ian Rapoport reports (Sept. 13, 7:34 p.m.).

The Jets confirmed Mauldin's concussion and said he does not have any neck injuries. He will remain in the hospital overnight (Sept. 13, 7:39 p.m.).

Matt Harvey had his first start in 11 days on Friday vs. Boston but was pulled after 103 pitches and six innings. A lack of sharpness provoked manager Terry Collins to give Harvey the hook when the righty thought he could keep going.

"He was rusty. You could see that in the beginning," Collins said. "That's why his pitch count got up to what it was. He wanted to throw another inning. And I just said, 'We can't do it. That's why we gave you the time off. We aren't here to tax you. We're here to make sure you can get through the month and play into the postseason.'"
