NEW YORK -- Kentucky's future backcourt put on a show in the Jordan Brand Classic and gave the basketball world a glimpse of what's to come.

De'Aaron Fox went for 23 points, 5 rebounds and no turnovers en route to co-MVP honors as the East team beat the West team, 131-117, at Barclays Center.

His co-MVP was his future backcourt-mate in Big Blue Nation and his roommate here in the Big Apple. Malik Monk went for 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for the West. The duo combined for 45 points in the game.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- After coaching against Kentucky-bound guard Malik Monk on Monday morning and watching him throw down a series of highlight-reel dunks, Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley said he was "absolutely an NBA player."

Monk is projected as the No. 10 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.

The ugliness of the Internet was on display Wednesday soon after Malik Monk announced he would become the latest probable one-and-done player to head to Kentucky. The 6-foot-3 lead guard is an Arkansas native and the fact that he picked SEC rival Kentucky over Arkansas didn't go over well with some. Arkansas native and Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis chimed in with this Tweet:

The 6-foot-3 guard out of Bentonville (AR) was on hand for the school's Red-White Game and took in practice, as shown in this picture from Arkansas beat writer Andrew Hutchinson.

Monk has now taken officials to Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky and Arkansas, but his decision is widely expected to come down to Kentucky and Arkansas.

CHICAGO-- Malik Monk was named to the U.S. All-Tournament Team at the 2014 Nike Global Challenge. This year, apparently, he didn't think that was good enough.

Monk was named Tournament MVP Saturday after his USA South team beat USA West 120-109 to win the Nike Global Challenge. He finished a phenomenal run at the tournament with a 22-point, 13-rebound and four-assist effort in the final, while playing 39 of the game's 40 minutes. The Bentonville, Ark. Native is entering his senior season this fall.

"Yeah, I feel comfortable playing with and without the ball," Monk said of his guard skillset after the game. He said he wants to develop skills as both a shooting guard and point guard moving forward.
