Keith Bogans is ready to take Reggie Evans to task on some ribbing Evans dished out during the preseason.

According to Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston, Bogans said Evans sent him lemons before the Nets and Celtics met in the preseason?to give him a playful message:

"When the Nets visited Boston for the teams' preseason finale in October, Evans found a couple of lemons in the visiting locker room at TD Garden. He grabbed a marker and had teammates autograph them before having a ball boy deliver them across the hall to Bogans and [MarShon] Brooks.?The insinuation: Life handed them lemons, so enjoy the sour taste of losing."

On Monday night, the Nets defeated?the Washington Wizards by a final score of 106-101.

The Skinny: With the fourth seed already locked up, the Nets rested four starters and began the game with C.J. Watson, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries and Andray Blatche starting alongside Gerald Wallace. The Wizards opened the game up on a 7-2 run and quickly sped out to a 19-7 lead after the Nets began the game by shooting just 2-of-5 and turning the ball over three times. Trevor Booker and Cartier Martin grabbed seven combined rebounds in the quarter, and the Wizards played with pace and passion en route to a 34-21 lead after one.

Humphries gave the Nets great energy play to open the second quarter, but the Wizards were able to maintain a comfortable lead. But back-to-back lay-ups from Watson and Brooks closed the deficit to five. John Wall began taking control offensively, which helped Washington go back up double figures. Late turnovers hurt the Wizards, and Blatche hit on an acrobatic lay-up to close out the first half to get the Nets within six.

NEW YORK ? If one were told that the Nets would get a win without Deron Williams scoring in the fourth quarter and with Brook Lopez not playing a single minute in it, it would be difficult to believe.

But surprisingly enough, that was the case in Brooklyn?s 93-89 victory on Friday night over the Chicago Bulls.

On Friday night, the Nets defeated the Chicago Bulls by a final score of 93-89.

The Skinny: Deron Williams kept up his string of fast starts, hitting on his first three shots from the field for seven points which helped the Nets open an early seven-point lead. Brooklyn increased the lead to 10, as the shorthanded Bulls managed just 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting in the first quarter.

Chicago chipped away into the Nets? lead to eventually tie the game as Marco Belinelli and Brooklyn-born Taj Gibson provided an offensive spark. Luol Deng drilled a corner three with less than a minute left in the half to give the Bulls their first lead. As that was happening, Williams hobbled to the Nets bench after stepping on Nate Robinson?s foot and appearing to roll hi right ankle. The Bulls led by one at the break.

Tonight at 8 p.m., the Nets take on the Oklahoma City Thunder, owners of the best record in the NBA.

The Nets are coming off a blowout loss to the Spurs, and a win tonight in OKC, where the Thunder are 16-2, is a tall order.

It will take an overall team effort to even have a respectable showing tonight. The Nets have never won (0-3) in Oklahoma City.

One statistic stood out from the rest in the Nets' Dec. 4 contest with the Oklahoma City Thunder. It wasn't the 60 percent clip that the Thunder converted from the field, and it wasn't the Nets' 15 offensive rebounds.

It wasn't even the 30-for-34 shooting that the Thunder did from the free-throw line.

The Brooklyn Nets picked up the third year 2013-14 option on shooting guard MarShon Brooks on Friday. This is not a surprise as Brooks is a talented scorer but has his work cut out for him this year with his defense needing to improve.

What does Avery Johnson have to say about Brooks?

New York, N.Y. ? Nets head coach Avery Johnson announced Thursday that his newly-acquired six-time All-Star shooting guard Joe Johnson will continue serve as the anchor on the team?s second unit.

Through the first few preseason games, Johnson has seen plenty of action with the reserves as he tries to get comfortable with his new teammates.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. ? This summer, Brooklyn Nets general manager Billy King gave his bench a facelift. King added eight players that are expected to make the final roster and contribute off the bench. Two holdovers from last season, MarShon Brooks and Keith Bogans, will also see playing time as reserves.

After giving the Nets bench such a drastic makeover, is this a case of quantity or quality?

MarShon Brooks

Via Tim Bontemps of the New York Post

"Last season, MarShon Brooks was an essential part of the Nets offense. Despite being a rookie, Brooks became the team?s second scoring option ? behind only Deron Williams? when a pair of foot injuries forced Brook Lopez to miss virtually the entire year.

MarShon Brooks

'I can't wait,' he says. 'That's going to be crazy. That really is going to be nuts. There's going to be a lot of energy in the building -- you know Brooklyn. The whole city's excited.'

He says this, and you can imagine him bounding out of the locker room, seeing a familiar face and pumping his fist."

Brooks has worked out twice for both the Knicks and the Bucks. He said he hurt his ankle in his initial workout with New York but was able to overcome the injury through a total of 11 workouts."They're very interested," Brooks said of the Knicks. "I think it's their style of play, sort of similar to what I played at Providence. So they feel like I'd be a good fit. We'll see. The countdown begins."

Brooks was asked about any comparisons of his game to that of Burks and Thompson, who are considered serious candidates to be selected by the Bucks.

I had heard that Brooks didn't work out well for the Knicks and it appears that ankle injury may just by why. I'm not sure he's the right fit in terms of this roster based on the fact that he'll need the ball to be effective. His scoring talents are undeniable.

Brooks impressed the heck out of Len Elmore at the combine. He's a fan of his length and athleticism. He can score and is a gifted player who can get into seams and make shots.

But from all accounts and people that I've talked to says be aware of the fact that Brooks does not use his athleticism on the defensive end. He's offensively ready to contribute right away, but what if he's not the go to guy? What if he has to learn how to play off of Melo and Stoudemire? Is he equipped? Good question.

My feeling is that he isn't the fit at 17 based on his lack of attention to detail defensively, and the fact that I'm not sold he can be effective in a rotation where he's not the go-to guy. That said, there's no reason that he can't work his way in and come in and help at the 2 guard, which is a need. He's an incredibly skilled offensive player, I am just assuming that there will be better fits at 17 come draft night.
