In NFL.com's Around the League's latest NFL quarterback rankings, Eli Manning landed in the 7 spot, under the category of "Franchise Gold."

Manning is one of four quarterbacks to be placed in this second tier of rankings along with Drew Brees (4), Ben Roethlisberger (5) and Matt Ryan (6).

Brees, Big Ben and Manning all own Super Bowl titles, and Ryan appears poised to follow suit sometime in the near future, as his Falcons were a mere 30 seconds from having an opportunity in 2012.

Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw and safety Kenny Phillips are both expected to return to the lineup when the Giants travel to Baltimore Sunday.

Bradshaw, who declared himself healthy just hours after the team's loss to Atlanta, missed Sunday's game with a sprained left knee.

Earlier this week, Bradshaw said, "I'm playing ... I just have to get it through to Tom Coughlin and the training staff. As of right now, I feel like I can go and be ready Sunday."

This is not Newton's Laws of Physics, but it is a theory.

For all of the turmoil surrounding New York's inability to consistently win football games, there is equal to or greater panic in Baltimore regarding the Ravens' offensive identity.

Your welcome.

A couple of numbers stick it out from yesterday's 34-0 rout in Atlanta.

Offensively, the Giants turned the ball of three times, two of which were interceptions complements of Eli Manning. The two-time Super Bowl MVP completed all of 13 passes, no touchdowns, and finished the contest with a 40.7 quarterback rating.

But it's zero -- the number of points Big Blue scored -- that's glaring. It marked the team's first shutout in 16 years.

As I stated in my game prediction, there was too much on the line for Atlanta when they welcomed the Giants into the George Dome this afternoon.

The Falcons, now 7-0 in their own friendly confines, proved that with a shutout of the defending Super Bowl champions.

On the defensive side of the ball, Big Blue had no way of containing the Falcons multifaceted attack. Atlanta dominated in every possible aspect in this match-up.

Fourth Quarter

- The Giants Martellus Bennett drops an Eli pass & the Falcons challenge will put the Giants in a 3rd and long situation.

- The Falcons are controlling the clock with good running plays and short passes. The Giants may only have one more drive left in this game.

In a Q&A with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan spoke candidly about being motivated by the Falcons' 24-2 loss at the hands of the Giants in last year's Wildcard round of the playoffs.

Asked whether that loss has served as motivation for the fifth-year signal caller, Ryan was very politically correct in his response.

"It?s one of the motivations that pushes you when you fall short in the playoffs," Ryan said. "But we?re a different football team than we were last year and they?re a different football team than they were in the playoffs last year."
The Giants defense has held opponents to just 18 points per game since their Week 11 bye. On the other side of the spectrum, Atlanta, owners of the league's 9th-ranked offense, has averaged 26 points per game.

Numbers never lie. Not only is a TV program on ESPN2, but it's a common phrase when it comes to qualifying the legitimacy of statistics.

In many instances, however, statistics can be manipulated to give?credence to any point trying to be made.

The New York Giants defense, which has made its reputation on sacking opposing quarterbacking, has just 15 sacks to their name in 2012, which is ranked dead last in the NFL.

Two of the NFL?s top quarterbacks will square off Sunday in Atlanta: Eli Manning and Matt Ryan. Both players addressed the media in anticipation of the game.

Manning acknowledged that the Falcons are a tough team to beat at home, having won 10 straight in their own building.

?I think it just starts with just they?re a good team and so they do a good job of making plays and being sharp,? Manning said. ?Their offense seems like it does a lot of changing plays and getting into the right calls based on the defense and of course anytime they can be loud and show you different looks on the defensive side and make it difficult for the quarterback to change protection and those types of things puts them in any advantage.?

Midway through the NFL season, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is making a case for the NFL's MVP.

No, do not make a pedestrian performance yesterday v. the Cowboys taint his overall season.

This is how Manning stacks up against other viable candidates.

As the first ever playoff game in MetLife Stadium draws nearer, comparisons are swirling regarding the 2011 squad?s resemblance to the World Champion 2007 Giants team. For the most part, I too can see the resemblance.

Just like in the summer of ?07, the Giants weren?t expected to make much noise this season. After making quick free agent splashes with top UDFA Mark Herzlich and C David Baas, Big Blue found itself sitting idly by as other teams stole headlines and marquee names.

GM Jerry Reese was under serious fire before a single preseason snap was played. Two of Eli?s top targets, Steve Smith and Kevin Boss, were allowed to quietly walk out the door and in one case into the arms of the franchise?s most hated rival. Ahmad Bradshaw too was almost not retained, but a pay cut taken by Brandon Jacobs led to his return.

Atlanta Falcons' QB Matt Ryan is not considered among the elite in the NFL. He is, pretty damn good, though. If you check his stats Ryan is practically step-for-step with our Eli Manning, who is now being considered one of the league's top QBs:

Both QBs threw 29 TDs this season. Ryan had a 92.2 QB rating, just a liver below Eli's 92.9. Eli's completion percentage was 61% while Ryan's was a bit higher at 61.3. Eli averaged 36 attempts per game to Ryan's 35. ? Manning was 21st in the league when it came to getting sacked (28 times). Ryan was 29th with 26 sacks.

Not even Brett Favre ever did this for the Green Bay Packer faithful.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was nearly flawless at the Georgia Dome on Saturday night, completing 31 of 36 passes for 366 yards and three touchdowns, while avoiding a turnover, leading sixth-seeded Green Bay (12-6) to a 48-21 thrashing of the top-seeded Atlanta Falcons (13-4).

What was expected to be a rematch reminder of the Falcons? 20-17 win over the Packers in the final seconds in Atlanta in Week 12 became a record night for Rodgers and Green Bay.
