While the Brooklyn Nets are just trying to survive an eight-game, 16-day, 8,100-mile cross-country trip, the Memphis Grizzlies are fighting for a coveted spot in the postseason in the Western Conference.

With a little more than a month to go in the regular season, the Grizzlies are in a dogfight with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder for the fourth seed. After losing to Houston on Friday, it would seem a perfect time for Memphis to get back on the winning track with the Nets coming to FedExForum on Monday.

The NBA's version of the Road Warriors, Brooklyn has the worst record in the league at 10-51 and has won only once on its current road trip. The Nets have lost 18 of 19 games, but the Grizzlies are taking nothing for granted -- and rightly so.

The reeling New York Knicks had no answer for Marc Gasol last month and will face him Friday night after a difficult loss in the first of back-to-back games. They're looking to avoid a sixth straight loss in this series and deny the visiting Grizzlies their longest winning streak in a year.

The Grizzlies have a chance to extend their surge against a New York team that has allowed 107.9 points over its last 13 games. The Knicks (23-29) rallied from 27 points down and took the lead with 2:14 left Thursday before running out of gas in a 111-105 loss at Detroit.

"We dug ourselves the kind of hole where everything has to go right for you to have a chance," coach Derek Fisher said.

Tonight, the Nets host the Memphis Grizzlies at the Barclays Center, as they attempt to climb over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

After bottoming out at 11 games under .500 at the end of December, the Nets' 19-8 start to the 2014 calendar year has them back at .500 with a 29-29 record overall entering tonight's game, good enough for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, in the much tougher Western Conference, the Grizzlies currently find themselves on the outside looking in, just on the cusp of a playoff spot, half a game out of the eighth seed despite a 34-25 record, better than all but two East teams.
