Now Commenting On:

A: Savannah Sand Gnats 8, @ Greenville Drive (BOS) 3

Brandon Nimmo, who had been out of action since April 29, returned to the lineup, hitting second, playing centerfield. He was 0-for-5 with a strikeout. Nimmo was originally sidelined by a bruised left hand, and then kept out of action for another two weeks or so with a strained glute.

Steven Matz started and went only three innings and one batter before leaving with a blister problem. Yes, only a blister. His line: 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K.

This was a solid all-around night for the Gnats' offense: six dudes had two hits or more, and eight of the nine starters had at least one hit.

I do want to point out the good work out of the bullpen of Julian Hilario who threw three scoreless innings with four strikeouts for the win. Hilario throws hard - low-mid 90s - and has made progress with his changeup. In his last seven innings, he's allowed three hits, fanned 10 and walked just one. He's 22 already, but some arm strength in here.

A+: Jupiter Hammerheads (MIA) @ St. Lucie Mets 0  - ppd by rain

A shame this one was post-poned as Noah Syndergaard had retired all seven batters to face him through one out in the third. Thor had two strikeouts and had induced four groundouts. Oh well, Floriday...
