For the third consecutive game, the Las Vegas offense pounded out double digit hits (13, 11, 11) and runs (10, 10, 10) and received contributions top to bottom in their lineup. C Juan Centeno, who was called up from double-A Binghamton to replace the injured Travis d'Arnaud April 18, got his first PCL action and made it count, going 1 for 2 with two runs batted in and a run scored. He also did a nice job behind the plate catching struggling starter Chris Schwinden (2-2), nursing him through 5.1 innings of five-hit ball to get the win.
Every player in Wally Backman's starting lineup had at least one hit, led by lf Jamie Hoffmann who was 3 for 5 with two rbi and two runs. 1b Zack Lutz, hitting around the Mendoza line most of the campaign, had a breakout day collecting two hits and driving in three. cf Juan Lagares added another hit and has now picked up at least one knock in 12 of the last 13 games. He also drove in two more runs and has eight rbi in 16 games this season. Not bad for a leadoff hitter.
