Trailing 3-2 in the top of the 7th inning, the Tacoma Rainiers scored twice against Las Vegas reliever Gonzalez Germen and added a single run in the 9th to beat the 51s 5-3 at Cashman Field. Chris Schwinden got the start for Vegas and lasted five innings, surrendering two runs (both earned) on three hits. His control was an issue, walking a season high five, which had his pitch count at 93 (49 strikes) when he was lifted.
The Las Vegas offense was lifeless most of the afternoon, managing just three runs on seven scattered hits. 1b Josh Satin collected his 15th and 16th runs batted in with a game tying two out singe in the 5th inning. The other run was driven in by rf Jamie Hoffmann on a single in the 6th.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, the 51s had their first two batters reach base thanks to a pair of walks issued by Tacoma reliever Logan Bowcom. After a Kai Gronaur sac bunt pushed the tying runs into scoring position, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Brian Bixler each struck out to end the game.
