According to Sandy Alderson, the new dimensions would have given Curtis Granderson an extra seven home runs last season, but the rightfielder "doesn't necessarily agree" (Carig, Nov. 4).
Granderson was at the New York Public Library today as part of Citi's ThankYou Home Runs for Communities Program.
"It's going to be one of things where we're going to have to wait and see," Granderson said about the change to the ballpark, though he acknowledged Alderson may have a point about his production from this year to next.
Granderson also praised Alderson's decision to hire his former hitting coach, Kevin Long, who the Mets hired last month.
"He has a positive attitude," Granderson said of Long (Ehalt, Nov. 4). "He's always your number one fan."
