Update - 7:04 p.m.: The Mets traded Ike Davis to the Pirates, opening up a spot on the 25-man roster for Young. Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Andrew Brown are still with the team.
2:30 p.m.: He felt tightness in his right quad during late March. He was unable to start Opening Day, played one inning in left field the next game and was later put on the disabled list.
GM Sandy Alderson indicated he is likely to demote an outfielder - not a first baseman - to make room on the roster for Young, leading to speculation that Andrew Brown or Kirk Nieuwenhuis may soon be heading back to Triple-A Las Vegas.
In two games with the Mets this season, Nieuwenhuis has 10 plate appearances and three hits, including a home run and four RBI.
Brown has 28 plate appearances spanning eight games, during which he has a double, one home run and five RBI.
