Now Commenting On:

AA: Binghamton Mets 14, @ New Hampshire Fisher Cats (TOR) 3

Noah Syndergaard: 7 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 1 HR. He gave up a single after a grounder in the sixth that SS Wilfredo Tovar couldn't field and then a three run bomb. Commenter Bk083090 tells us he was "95-98," which is nice. In 18 innings in AA, Thor has fanned 23 and walked four.

The B-Mets hit five homeruns in the game, although Cesar Puello hit none as he sat it out.

A+: @ St. Lucie Mets 6, Fort Myers Miracle (MIN) 3

Wait, Kevin Plawecki played first base so Cam Maron could catch? Huh. Plawecki was 2-for-3 with an RBI and is now hitting .340/.365/.480 in his 13 games in St. Lucie. I like Plawecki as a catcher, but I do not think his bat supports a move to first long-term at all. I wonder if this is to save wear and tear on his back and keep his bat in the lineup while giving him a little extra versatility.

Jayce Boyd, who DH'ed was 2-for-4 with a homer to push his St. Lucie line to .404/.424/.667 with three homers in 14 games. The 22-year-old had five homers in 65 games in the SAL.

Alex Panteliodis: 5 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 HR. Panteliodis has 29 strikeouts against 18 walks in 58.1 innings in the FSL this year. I think he would be the first to go if the Mets decide to move any of the deserving Savannah starters.

Tim Byrdak worked an inning of relief.

A: Savannah Sand Gnats 3, @ Greenville Drive (BOS) 0 (7 innings)

@ Greenville Drive 3, Savannah Sand Gnats 1 (7 innings)

Speaking of deserving Savannah starters, Steven Matz in game one: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K. Matz's last four starts: 26.1 IP, 11 H, 3 R, 9 BB, 29 K for a 0.68 ERA and an opponents' batting line of .128/.216/.151. His changeup and slider have both improved.

Now up to 71.1 innings, the Mets are targetign 100-105 innings for Matz so he has about six more starts to play with either in Savannah (which has qualified for the playoffs) or St. Lucie (which is trying to make the playoffs in the second half).

Luis Cessa in game two: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K. In his last 40 innings over six starts, he's allowed a 1.58 ERA and 41 strikeouts against 6 walks.

SSA: Brooklyn Cyclones 5, @ Aberdeen Ironbirds (BAL) 3

The '13 college draftees - CF Patrick Biondi, 2B L.J. Mazilli and LF Jared King - all ahd three hits.
