With the B-Mets down one and two runners aboard in the ninth inning and one out, Ike Davis doubled down the rightfield line to deliver the win that snapped the team's seven-game losing streak. Davis yanked a 1-2 slider to drive in the winning runs. He was 2-4 with a walk, but struck out twice. B-Mets manager Mako Oliveras, on Davis, as quoted by Brian Moritz:
"To me, he's got that killer instinct that it takes to be a major-league hitter," Oliveras said.Ruben Tejada was 3-4 and is now hitting .287/.362/.376 at age 19. Tejada is at .313/.360/.400 in June and has fanned just four times in 23 games.
In his return to AA, Dylan Owen gave up three runs on five hits in five innings, walking four. LHP Michael Antonini, in his first appearance out of the bullpen this year gave the B-Mets three innings of one-run ball. Roy Merritt worked a clean ninth and earned his third win of the year.
Lucas Duda (.273/.382/.395) again lined up in LF to accomodate Davis' spot at first base.
