Chris Walendin, Contributor:This offseason, the Mets signed 34-year-old righty Brandon Lyon to a deal that guarantees him $750,000 in base pay, and offers $900,000 in various performance incentives tied to appearances and games finished.

The structure of the deal also allowed the Mets to mitigate some of the injury (and underperformance) risk that comes with signing a veteran reliever.

It calls for Lyon to receive roster bonuses of $100,000-$125,000 roughly once a month. By starting the season on the active roster, Lyon already cashed in his first $100K on Opening Day. This morning, he pocketed his second check.

So, if you're looking to borrow money from Brandon Lyon, today might be a good day to ask.You can read more from Chris at tpgMets and on Twitter.
