It appears Brandon Nimmo did not suffer any serious damage to his left hand as he's in Wednesday's lineup against the Marlins, starting in left field and batting leadoff.
Nimmo was hit by a pitch in his left hand in the seventh inning Tuesday night and left the game. X-rays on his hand Tuesday night were negative. Everything went well Wednesday with a grip test and Nimmo felt fine swinging a bat before Wednesday's game.
"We're in a good spot," Nimmo said. "Not much soreness at all. It doesn't affect how I go to the ball. I was really happy with that this morning."
By the way Callaway reacted after checking on Nimmo, it appeared it could be a bad injury, but Nimmo won't miss any time as of now.
Nimmo has been hit on his hand a number of times over the years.
"It's not fun. But yeah, last year definitely having the experiences, and I've had this happen throughout my career," Nimmo said. "It's just part of the game. If people try to come up and in, they're gonna miss sometimes. It happens to get in the right spot. But we dodged a bullet here and I'm just glad it feels good today."
