A day after the trade deadline passed, Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen penned a letter to fans, echoing some of the things he said Wednesday after the trade deadline passed, but elaborating on his hope for the rest of the season.
"This group has showed resiliency and has earned the right to go out and play meaningful games in the next two months and I know they're excited to go and do that," he wrote.

The letter from Van Wagenen comes a day after Pete Alonso wrote an impassioned rallying cry of his own, punctuating it with a new hashtag -- #LFGM.
"The boys are hot and we've been working our asses off," he wrote. "Hard work has been really paying off this second half. The rest of the season is going to be a really fun, wild, and memorable ride. Our goal is to make history. We strive every day to be great and nothing less."
