Torres, 31, was 4-6 with a 3.44 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 33 appearances for the Mets in 2013.
He is scheduled to pitch in Wednesday's split-squad game at Tradition Field against the Marlins.
This was expected, which is why I included him in my bullpen projection earlier this week. As I said then, Torres, Bobby Parnell, Vic Black and Scott Rice seem like locks for the bullpen. The rest of camp will determine who joins them. But, at his early stage, I'd only bet on Jose Valverde and Jenrry Mejia. The last spot will likely come down to Jeurys Familia and a second left-handed reliever, figure Josh Edgin or Jack Leathersich.
By the way, Ruben Tejada and Eric Young Jr. are other players in camp that are out of options.
