Now Commenting On:

SiriusXM's Casey Stern will not be joining WOR's Mets radio team to host their pre- and post-game shows, according to industry sources (ESPN New York, Feb. 17).

The team announced last week that Howie Rose and Josh Lewin will return to the studio to call each  game. However, Ed Coleman will remain at WFAN to continue being the network's on-air beat reporter.

7:50 pm: I was under the impression WOR was looking for someone who could do play-by-play, in the event they needed a fill-in guy for Rose or Lewin, leading me to wonder if that hurt Casey here. Turns out, that's  not the case at all. WOR doesn't require a bit of play-by-play experience and it reads like Stern simply chose to stay with SiriusXM, which is great news, a) because I understand he's really happy there, but b) because he's awesome on air. I dig his show with Jim Bowden in the afternoon, and I'd hate to see that come to an end.

That said, I know a couple of the people still being talked about for this position. They're all big-time Mets fans, smart and talented, and I think no matter how WOR goes here, people who listen to the broadcast will be happy.
