Now Commenting On:

The Cubs had two scouts watching Noah Syndergaard's start Thursday for Triple-A Las Vegas, according to columnist Andy Martino (Daily News, Aug. 8).

In late July, the Rockies also sent a sizable contingent to watch Syndergaard in Vegas (NY Post, July 31).

Syndergaard had dominated in his last four starts. However, last night in Vegas, he was tagged for four runs, let up seven hits, tossed 102 pitches in five innings and only struck out four batters.

“He’s got the arm, that's for sure, (but) based on this, he’s not quite ready," a scout in attendance Thursday told Martino.

In a deal for SS Troy Tulowitzki or OF Carlos Gonzalez, the Rockies are looking to acquire the best young, power pitching possible and feel they match up best with the Mets and Cardinals (Cerrone, July 29).

The Cubs have two shortstops among the best seven prospects in baseball, according to a recent list by; and their big-league shortstop, Starlin Castro, is hitting .278 with 11 HR and again made the All-Star team this year at just 24 years old.
