The program travels to St. Louis and focuses on Strawberry's life as an ordained minister and founder of a recovery center for substance-abuse users, during which he talks in details about losing his entire baseball earnings, his fight with cancer, jail time and drug addiction.
“The clothes are just hanging off of his body. He's sitting in a chair and he's like part of the fabric in the chair. He looks like the walking dead,” Darryl's wife, Tracey, told HBO. “He told me not to get involved with him. ‘Girl, you have no idea what you're getting yourself into,' he said."
Mrs. Strawberry moved Darryl from Florida to St. Louis, where she helped change his life.
