Wright said he has not discussed a new contract with his agents yet, and conjectured whether or not the team needs to work through their financial struggles before engaging in contract talks.
In regards to the possibly of Ryan Zimmerman's new contract with the Nationals impacting his situation, Wright said he wouldn't go to the organization using that as a baseline.
Wright’s entering the final year of a six-year, $55 million contract he signed during the 2006 season. He has a $16 million club option for 2013 with a $1 million buyout. If he is traded at any point during the deal, Wright has the option to void the option and become a free agent after the 2012 season.
Earlier today, the Nationals agreed to terms on a $100 million, six-year contract extension with a club option for a seventh year worth $24 million.
