David Wright's new contract is somewhat more front-loadeded than it is back-loaded, tweets Mike Puma of the New York Post.

According to Puma, Wright wanted the Mets to have as much flexibility as possible.

However, the Mets ultimately lowered the amount of deferred money in the deal, although Wright allowed the Mets to pick which years money would be deferred.

Earlier this morning, Wright and the Mets agreed on a new eight-year, $138 million contract and voided his original $16 million option for 2013.
