Now Commenting On:

In case you forgot, the Mets made changes to the outfield wall in Citi Field for this season, bringing in fences, altering dimensions, adding seats and changing its color.

Players and fans will get their first live look at the new wall today, when the Mets begin their regular season against the Braves at 1 pm.

“It has this kind of rolling-stone effect," Jason Bay told Mike Kerwick of the Bergen Record about the new dimensions. "I don’t think it’s going to be able to turn a guy who hits two home runs into [a guy who hits] 50. But for guys that hit the ball in the air, I imagine it’s going to help a little bit.”

To read more about how the team is hoping the new wall will help its hitters, check Kerwick's report in the Bergen Record, as well Jared Diamond's report in the Wall Street Journal.
