The Mets optioned LHP Buddy Baumann to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room for RHP Jacob deGrom, who is returning from the disabled list to pitch on Sunday against the Phillies.
Baumann was promoted earlier in the week to replace Hansel Robles, who landed on the disabled list. Baumann did not appear in any game during his brief stint with the big league team.
Upon his promotion to the Mets, Baumann served a one-game suspension on Friday for his role in a brawl last year in a game between the Rockies and his former team, the Padres.
DeGrom will pitch for the first time since suffering a hyperextended elbow during a game against the Braves on May 2. He missed one start during his time on the 10-day disabled list.
