Now Commenting On:

Daisuke Matsuzaka will reman in the starting rotation, despite letting up four runs on four hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings Wednesday, Terry Collins said after after losing to the Cubs.

"That's not the Daisuke we've been seeing," Collins said about Matsuzaka's start (ESPN, June 4). "The base on balls and falling behind in the count is stuff that he has not been doing. It cost him tonight. He put himself in some tough situations."

Matsuzaka was moved back to the rotation last weekend after the team demoted Rafael Montero to an an extra, fresh arm to the bullpen from Triple-A.

"He hasn't started consistently," Collins added. "I know last year when Dan [Warthen] sped his tempo up he pitched better. So, certainly, that will be discussed."
