Now Commenting On:

Dillon Gee did not throw a bullpen session on Sunday, GM Sandy Alderson said late Sunday.

"Gee did not feel comfortable today throwing a bullpen," Alderson said. "It never got that far. So, we’ll back him off a little bit."

Gee was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 14 with a strained right lat muscle.

He said Sunday morning that he planned to throw later in the day in advance of starting a minor-league rehab assignment later in the week.

His goal of returning to the rotation June 5 is now in question.

This always seems to happen with back muscles. I can't ever remember a player returning on time from that type of injury. There are always set backs. It seems they think they're 100 percent, get on field, go full force, and either realize it's still not ready or, worse, they re-tweak it. Gee will get back. But, as is almost always the case, it's going to be a bumpy road back to the active roster.
