Lewin, who joined Rose in 2012, said on WFAN in early January that he expects to eventually work things out with WOR.
It was reported last week that the team's new radio home will soon speak with Cliff Floyd and Darryl Hamilton about joining the broadcast (Puma, Jan. 20).
WOR has yet to announce their Mets broadcast team for 2014, despite being a few weeks away from the start of Spring Training.
Think what you want, but I plan to wait and see how this plays out before judging. Maybe Lewin will be back, but in a different role? Maybe he does more pre- and post-game, essentially replacing Ed Coleman, who is rumored to be staying with WFAN? Or, because of how much time Lewin and Rose miss due to NFL and NHL work, maybe the booth will rotate and require less of a commitment from each personality?
I like Lewin. I hope he's back. I think he and Howie are good together, they're authentic and bring a common, every-day fan feel to the broadcast that the TV guys do not. It's two different types of broadcasts. If I want to learn and listen to top-notch analysis, I go to Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez. If I want to capture what it's like to watch the game with other Mets fans, I go to Lewin and Rose. I hope the Mets see it the same way...
