Now Commenting On:

The Mets, Yankees and Padres have asked the Mariners about 2B Dustin Ackley (Heyman, Dec. 10), but trade talks have gotten no traction (Rosenthal, Dec. 17).

Ackley is popular and teams ask about him often, "which is typical at this time of year," but he's not likely to be traded, a person close to the team said in early December (Cerrone, Dec 11).

Ackley, 25, is arbitration eligible each of the next three seasons, after which he can be a free agent.

He .253 with a .319 OBP, .660 OPS, 18 doubles, four HR and 31 RBI in 113 games for the Mariners. He's played second base, first and outfield during his professional career.
